CAPS2 Promotional Leaflet

An illustrative leaflet has been made for the project CAPS2 on which there are reported the main information, partnership management, the objectives and the activities to be performed.

The production of the leaflet is part of communication and dissemination activities foreseen by the project, as well as its distribution inside and outside the partnership, between the general public and especially among the various stakeholders. The leaflet has been distributed to all partners for the dissemination in each Country.

It is a very effective promotional tool, contains the keywords networking and cooperation, safety and surveillance, carefully summarizes the structuring of the project in the different work plans.

Training on Benzopyrene and other PAHs (27 - 31 January 2014)

The project "Strengthening of Centres of Aquaculture production and Safety surveillance in Adriatic Cross-border Countries" – CAPS2 (2 nd ORD/0216) has as one specific objective to strengthen diagnostic capabilities and know-how in relation to heavy metals, benzopyrene and other Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) and biotoxins contamination of fish and shellfish produced in the Adriatic sea.

In this framework, the first training period at the IZSAM laboratories has been organized from 27 to 31 January 2014.
Project partner laboratories involved for this initial training period were: the Croatian Veterinary Institute, involving both laboratories of Split and Rijeka, and the Centre for Ecotoxicological Research of Montenegro. A total of 5 persons were trained.
The training period consisted of both theoretic and practical training activities: following an introductory training day in classroom, participants were involved in laboratories testing and experiences in the Chemistry Unit of IZSAM "G. Caporale", Teramo, Italy. Discussion and cooperation among participants and IZSAM staff was promoted to achieve a more effective exchange of knowledge.

On 17-18 October 2013, representatives of CAPS2 project partners will meet in Split, Croatia, for the second Steering Committee meeting. The meeting, organized by Croatian Veterinary Institute, aims to recap the progresses of project activities, focusing on main areas of intervention: diagnostic services, GIS application and risk analysis.

The new partner from Montenegro, Centre for Ecotoxicological Research of Montenegro – CETI, will be officially introduced to the other representatives.

The meeting is also the opportunity to discuss financial and administrative aspects of project execution and define common proprieties and actions to undertake.

The meeting at the headquarters of the Veterinary Administration of Montenegro (VAM) was held in Podgorica (Montenegro), from 30th July to 1st August 2013, in order to define and plan the project activities related with the preparation and implementation of the National Surveillance plans (Work package 5 of the CAPS2 project). Representatives from the most important Authorities of Montenegro attended the meeting in order to share decisions with the Veterinary Administration of Montenegro. Dr. Eddy Listes, project coordinator from the Croatian Veterinary Institute (CVI, Croatia), and experts from Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Abruzzo and Molise Regions “G. Caporale” (IZSAM, Italy) joined the event to discuss the overall project progress.

Starting from general project presentation, the VAM resources and activities concerning the preparation and implementation of the National Surveillance plans were detailed, with particular reference to the national working group in Montenegro that will be in charge of the national legislation analysis. Following the meeting focused on aspects of project management and administration:

"Terms of Reference" of the project Steering Committee were accepted by the VAM representatives and signed therein.

During second day of meeting, the project coordinator and representatives from IZSAM visited the new partner from Montenegro “Center for Ecotoxicological Researches", taking a general discussion on the project.


On 12 and 13 June 2013 the first CAPS2 Steering Committee was held in Sarajevo. During the meeting participants verified preliminary results of the first seven months of project execution: implemented and planned activities were discussed, as well as the division of tasks within the partnership defining rules and practices of the project management.

The meeting was also useful to better define methods and tools for the internal communication among partners to favour the exchange of information and important project documents reaffirming that “sharing” is one of the keywords of the CAPS2 project.
